emirates_stadium1Arsene Wenger will be looking forward to stop the in-form Chelsea side, when his young Gunners take on the league leaders at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

With his side hit by a number of injuries (England U-21 Gibbs recently joining the list), it is going to be a tough task for Arsenal to stop the league leaders. However, if the inspirational performance against Standard Liege showed us anything, it was that Arsenal is determined to win and Chelsea will not have an easy match.

The Gunners are going to have to look out for Chelsea’s Didier Drogba as he is coming into this game with an impressive record. He has scored 8 goals in their last eight meetings. This form has been instrumental in helping the Blues secure a 7 recent wins. Arsenal’s weakened defense (without Clichy and Gibbs) has a strong chance of being exploited by the likes of former Gunners star, Nicolas Anelka, Ballack, Essien and Joe Cole. So, its buckle up time for Gallas & Co!

Meanwhile, the Blues also have their share of problems with Ricardo Carvallho and Deco unavailable due to injuries. This is a great opportunity for the home side who, without Robin Van Persie, Bendtner and Wilshire, has been in good goal scoring form this season. Fabregas, Arshavin, Denilson and Eduardo will have to take charge and dictate terms from the onset or else there will be a stiff mountain to climb.

If you go by recent form, Chelsea, with four clean sheets in a row (including a thumping 4-0 win over the Wolves in their last Premier League game), is favorite to win the game. However, Arsenal, like it has done all season, will fight till the end and is not going to leave any stone unturned as they have a great chance to prove the critics wrong once again.

Chelsea Arsenal MatchesArsenal’s injury woes continued to grow ahead of their clash against Chelsea, as both Clichy and Gibbs were ruled out of the game against the Blues on Sunday. Again, the swollen eye of former Chelsea star, William Gallas, may keep him out of the game.

This is why it is expected that the Gunners side will be coming out with a make shift defense, as Armand Traore might take the field and Mikael Silvestre may partner Thomas Vermaelan in the middle. Read the rest of this entry »
