Wenger Press ConferenceArsene Wenger, has come out insisting that his players not allow the thoughts of World Cup 2010 in South Africa pose a distraction on them and take them away from doing their job that the club is paying them for.

Journalists are continuously probing him with questions on how he is going to manage his squad as World Cup is just around the corner and some of his players may leave for international duties.

One of Arsenals great assets, Theo Walcott, is in focus as he has an integral role in Fabio Capello’s World Cup plan.

A furious Manager addressed the press conference, “Players should pay more attention on how they perform for Arsenal, not in the World Cup”.

“They are being paid not to have a big season at the World Cup, but for doing well at the Emirates.”

Wenger added that players should give importance to their country no doubt, but they must also have the people who pay them, on their priority list.

Final Match Score

Sunderland 1 – 0 Arsenal

Arsenal Fans came out disappointed today, as their side lost to the Black Cats 1-0 at the Stadium of Lights.

This was Arsenal’s third away defeat, but more to that, this game showed their vulnerability without Robin Van Persie.

Even though Nasri, Fabregas and Rosicky alongside Eduardo started the game, none of them could create an impact on their opponents. Eduardo made a rash of a great opportunities in the penalty box after a perfect pass from Song found him on the receiving end of the ball.

Darren Bent, with 8 goals previous to the game, was the main threat to the Gunners from the onset. And the Sunderland striker turned their nightmares into reality in the 71st minute by scoring a goal from a rebound.

Arsenal had their moments in the game, but were unable to capitalize on them and eventually lost 1-0 to the home side.

With this loss, Arsenal, having played one game less, went 8 points behind Chelsea, who won their game 4-0 against the Wolves at the Stamford Bridge. The Gunners even slipped down the table to third, as Manchester United tamed the inconsistent Everton at home 3-0.

Now, Arsene Wenger will have to dig deep and make his players realize the importance of the games that are ahead before Christmas.
