Arsenal Standard LiegeArsenal confirmed their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League, after they defeated Standard Liege 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium.

It was a clinical performance by the Gunners on a day when one of the top BPL sides, Liverpool, was knocked out of the competition. Laszlo BoloniLaszlo Boloni, Manager of Standard Liege, confessed that he admires the way Arsene Wenger handles his troop. However, he feels that the Gunners side is going to fall short of success in the Champions League.

Arsenal was on an unbeaten run of 13 games prior to their defeat in the Premier League encounter against Sunderland. Wenger Press ConferenceArsene Wenger, has come out insisting that his players not allow the thoughts of World Cup 2010 in South Africa pose a distraction on them and take them away from doing their job that the club is paying them for.

Journalists are continuously probing him with questions on how he is going to manage his squad as World Cup is just around the corner and some of his players may leave for international duties.

One of Arsenals great assets, Theo Walcott, is in focus as he has an integral role in Fabio Capello’s World Cup plan.

A furious Manager addressed the press conference, “Players should pay more attention on how they perform for Arsenal, not in the World Cup”.

“They are being paid not to have a big season at the World Cup, but for doing well at the Emirates.”

Wenger added that players should give importance to their country no doubt, but they must also have the people who pay them, on their priority list.

Arsenal SunderlandArsenal Fans came out disappointed today, as their side lost to the Black Cats 1-0 at the Stadium of Lights.
