Laszlo Boloni, Manager of Standard Liege, confessed that he admires the way Arsene Wenger handles his troop. However, he feels that the Gunners side is going to fall short of success in the Champions League.
Arsenal was on an unbeaten run of 13 games prior to their defeat in the Premier League encounter against Sunderland. At the Stadium of Lights, Gunners failed to show the class that helped them come from behind and defeat Standard Liege in their opening fixture of the Champions League.
Boloni believes that their performance against the Black Cats was a show of the weakness in their opponents without the presence of some important players. He added that the North-London club lacks the overall quality seen in the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and AC Milan.
Speaking in a press conference ahead of his clash against Arsene Wenger, Boloni said “I admire the policy that Wenger has for his side. However, I believe that we compare them to the top teams in the world, they lack the finishing and the patience to perform in big games.”
Now, only time will tell, if Boloni’s visit to Emirates is going to end happily or not. However, one thing is for sure that Wenger will use all his available resources to prove that Gunners are a force to reckon with in Europe.
