Match Preview:

Arsenal faces off with Az Alkmarr for the second time this season right after a 3-0 win over the Spurs. It is apparent that Az Alkmarr has been very unpredictable within the last few matches, but Arsenal is aiming to use their talent and take them down this time.

Arsene Wenger seems to have an incredibly strong sense of confidence in his team and their abilities as he has come out this weekend to say that he believes that Arsenal is among the elite clubs in Europe even though they have yet to get their hands on the Champions League trophy.  This sense of confidence, that was not present in the beggining of the season, has surely helped Arsenal along in the past few matches by allowing them to focus on winning games. Furthermore, Wenger has expressed his strong will to win the Champions League and believes that Arsenal has a chance this season.

“I consider ourselves as an elite club because we are in the top eight seeds of Europe and we are with only two clubs who have achieved 12 consecutive times to play in the Champions League.”

“You want to win the Champions League,” said Wenger. “You are not in the Champions League not to win it.”
“We have been in the final, we have been in the semi-final and at some stage I think being here every year we will win it,”

Some fundamental changes have been taking place in the last string of matches and one of the most important ones has been Robin van Persie’s new position as striker. It is clear that he has been able to fill the shoes of Emmanuel Adebayor with his impressive string of goals and incredible performance again the Spurs. It seems that he is just starting to show his fans what he can do if given the responsibility we all know he deserves.
