Arsenal has made it extremely clear that they are not pleased with the Uefa’s decision to suspend Eduardo for two matches and have announced that they are going to fight it.

An “Offical Statement” has now been published by Arsenal.

We strongly believe that the decision taken is deeply flawed and not based on any forensic review of the video evidence available.

There are obvious errors and inconsistencies in Uefa’s judgment and we intend to appeal.

This whole controversy has not contributed to the Uefa’s reputation and it is believed that this could be a ploy to front their anti-diving programme even though they claim that this is not the case.

Eduardo is “deeply upset” due to this ban and is considering making a personal appearance to try to clear his name.

Here are what a few of the Papers say about the controversy:

The Times

Arsenal have issued a stinging criticism of Uefa’s decision to ban Eduardo for two Champions League matches. In a statement released today, Arsenal said European’s ruling body had failed to properly study the available video evidence, and were inconsistent in delivering a “deeply flawed” judgment. The club confirmed that it would appeal against the ban.

The Sun

UEFA have made themselves look complete mugs over the escalating Eduardo fiasco. The most baffling aspect of it all is they now claim they will NOT be using the Eduardo case to spearhead an anti-diving programme.

The Independent

‘What on earth is happening to football? Could it really be in danger of being properly governed? Maybe we shouldn’t get too excited, too quickly, but if this amazing proposition is proved to have substance the first week of September 2009 will surely need to be marked down as one of rare significance in the history of the world’s most popular game.
